For those wondering, yes, I got my kiss on the cheek! :)

The following piece was originally written in Apple notes while riding the Q train home after our second date. It was later refined and workshopped in a creative writing course at NYU.

Just This Time

Unassuming face,

Bashful smile,

Skin dancing,

Slowly shrinking space,

Hi,

Hello,

Voices tremble,

With no words,

Lost,

Blanket of soft air,

Unexpected care,

You,

like me?

Warm hands around my waist,

Keep holding on tight,

I like you,

Drifting together,

Into and out of gaze,

Can we live a thirty second love story?

I adore,

the way you try,

so unsuccessfully,

To hide nervous excitation,

Eyes dilating,

Hesitating to kiss you,

Heat radiating,

Anticipating soft lips,

Join this secret world,

For a moment,

There is only,

You,

And I,

It’s just fun,

It means nothing,

You can say it,

I love you,

I don’t know about forever,

But for now we have one another,

So let’s laugh and play,

Without worry,

for any other day,

Why run from this moment?

We could have thirty seconds now,

And thirty seconds later,

This fantasy we share,

It stops and starts again,

Each time we see each other,

Maybe we could love forever,

But we don’t know anything,

I love you,

Right now,

So kiss me,

Don’t think too hard,

Hand in Hand,

You let me know,

You too feel this tingle,

Uncertainty maybe,

Surprisingly easy,

To sing and dance,

Without worry of embarrassment,

Or any other day,

I’m sorry,

I can’t remember yesterday,

I’m sorry,

I’m not thinking about tomorrow,

I couldn’t be sure about anything,

I only see you in front of me,

Nothing could steal me away from you,

I’m not thinking,

I’m breathing,

I’m sailing the sea inside your eyes,

I’m feeling our hearts beating,

Our spirits all tangled up,

Two fast moving streams,

One rushing river,

I see you,

Do you see me?

I say hello,

You say goodbye,

Until next time,

Dedicated to my friend and fellow writer - Ally Martinez.

I have included this piece because this experience was in many ways a milestone in my life and a first in discovering many of the core values I continue to put forth in my work. As I was learning to be more self accepting I met someone incredibly kind, honest, and encouraging. Without seeing her self compassion and feeling the loving support that comes with that, I’m not sure I would have the same fearlessness I carry today. After our short, but intimate connection, I began to invest more time in expressing myself. Some of the mediums I started taking more seriously included: Sketching, Skateboarding, Playing Piano & Guitar, and Photography.
