A collection of five poems originally written to my partner at the time, which span the approximate length of our romantic adventure together.
One More Kiss
Freeze time.
Wide eyes.
A smile,
Glows,
Before forming,
Puckered lips.
Wait.
One more,
One more kiss.
Ok. Ok. Ok.
One more.
That’s it.
Wait.
Gosh I go crazy for all the ways you move your tongue.
Let’s just,
Kiss.
One more time.
Eyes closed.
Soft skin.
Warm breath.
Lovingly positioned,
Lips,
on my lips.
Kiss!

Off to Italy
Inside a hammock that swings side to side,
Edges rolled in like a cocoon,
A head peaks out between the folds.
Eyes open to the light polluted city sky.
My heart beats in memory of yours next to mine.
Side by side we sway to a roof tune,
While the whole world stops and waits,
For three words to come out.
Eyes to eyes.
Hips to hips.
Oh wait, you have an eye guy.
Heart to heart.
Lips to lips.
I see you.
I see you when you dance at the deli.
When you smile and act kindly to everyone you speak to.
When you sing a lil bernernerner getting ready.
When you meditate with your eyes closed.
When you look carefully to find more gracious words.
When you work hard and do your best, even when no one else is looking.
When you listen to your heart and follow your passions.
When you put others first and try to love everyone you care about a little bit better.
When you get upset with yourself, even though you didn’t do anything wrong.
When you make yourself your favorite special breakfast.
When you take silly selfies on my phone for me to find later.
When you get moved by a special tune.
When you try over and over to light your smoke.
When you haven’t gotten your fix of coffee yet.
When you sing a lil bernernerner because you don’t want to talk about something.
When you get scared and overwhelmed.
When you just need someone to hug you after a long day.
When you wake up early in the morning excited to start your day.
When you can’t stop talking about all the beautiful things going on in your life. (I love listening to what you see)
When you look into my eyes and see me, and decide it’s safe to say,
I love you.
I love you too.

Morning Lights
Dark spots speckle cheeks
Across the bridge of a nose
Which scrunches tight
Under warm rays of light
Lips pulled wide
Ends up high
Eyes glow
Like two gentle seas of green
Beneath yellow cakes
Dotted by little black lakes
Which grow
As rosy lips part
Over well lit teeth
I’m so lucky to be here with you
Faces pull close
Ends of noses
Press together
Lips seal love
That ignites
Two sparks
Each morning
I love you.

Toes
Two twiddling toes
Two pairs of holes below
Two heals and over
Two middle piggies
Mismatching patterns sit atop
Mismatching colors on
Mismatching socks covering
Mismatching feetsies
That walk
That run
That dance
That stick
Together
Step by step
Side by side
Down to the very last thread
Naked and raw
Weathered tough
And sanded smooth
Through the coldest cold
And the hottest hot
And new holes
And new socks
Two twiddling spirits
Mismatching shaped hearts
That sing
Together
Beat by beat
Down to the very last sleep
Through new life
And new love.

Snoodle
With eyes closed I feel your warm skin pressed against mine.
Your fingertips glide down my forearms to find my hand.
Each finger fits side by side,
Sealing our palms together.
With eyes closed I feel our bodies wrap around each other,
As if we were cozy blankets,
On a cold winter night,
Protecting our warmth from the outside.
With eyes closed I feel your heart beating softly.
You breathe peacefully and slowly like your heavy body is not fully awake yet.
Moist kisses caress my cheek lip by lip,
Making a map of my whole body.
With eyes closed I listen to your tender voice say, Darling?
Lips smack the air, signaling, I’m here.
Our noses roll ridge over ridge, good morning.
One long kiss, I love you.
Eyelid by eyelid I let the light of the world in.
Two large eye balls stare back at me.
I see you for the second time.
With eyes open I feel you smiling back at me.
